Pillion riding banned in Karachi, Islamabad on New Year’s Eve
Pillion riding will be banned immediately after implementation. The government has also banned the display of weapons, aerial firing and the use of firearms on the occasion.
Pillion riding was banned and section 144 was imposed in Karachi and Islamabad ahead of New Year night.
Sindh Home Department imposed Section 144 in the provincial metropolis Monday midnight to curb raucous festivities on New Year’s Eve, according to a notification.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad Police has also announced its plan of action for New Year festivities. A spokesperson for the Islamabad police said action will be taken against one wheeling, riding motorcycles without silencers, and driving cars or bikes without a number plate.
He added hooliganism will not be allowed in the capital at any cost. He added that imposition of Section 144 and a ban on show of arms is already in place in the capital.
